woe is me

June 30th, 2008 · No Comments

not having a camera has turned me into a bitter non-blogger.

Do you know all the great stuff that this blog is missing out on?

For example, last night I witnessed an intense argument with police call threats and EVERYTHING, over the amount of chocolate put into a sundae.  Video? Photos?  No.   Just my hearsay.

On the other hand, I am getting a lot of other things underway…

Alice Russell @ The Delano

June 20th, 2008 · No Comments

Alice Russell

Last night I saw Alice Russell perform live with her band at the Delano Hotel.

I have been a fan of hers for quite some time.  I was first introduced to her lovely, lucious, and crack-free (take note Amy) UK brand of WGS through the work of Quantic (he could have a post of his own).

Unlike most of the crap we enjoy on the radio, Alice live sounds exactly like Alice on CD, if not better.  For more on her, check it out.

Sadly, the batteries died in the broken camera that I took to get some photos and video.  I got 0 shots, but met a lot of beautiful and intelligent women, so we’ll call that even.

One more Techie thing.

June 16th, 2008 · No Comments

The A Fair Game/Dangerously Beautiful blog was always about lifestyle.

Rather than calling it a lifestyle brand, I wanted to show my lifestyle.

However, my camera broke, so expect a whole lot reading since I don’t bring out my digital SLR half as much as I should.

In that spirit, read this if you shall.  It harkens to the days of old, when people paid for the Internet based on how long they were online.  Consider yourselves lucky kiddies, we get to witness real life inflation of every perceivable market, good, and service imagineable!

THE REAL PAY-PER-CLICK

And, because I hate text only posts, here is a picture of a random white woman.  Go Becky!

G3

June 16th, 2008 · No Comments

No, I’m not posting about my old jet, nor my pre-gulfstream days.

Instead, I offer this.

iphone g3

The “new” Iphone.  I’m no apple whore (been rocking my mac book pro for a year now, but I still use my PC on a regular basis when in The Treehouse).  Nor am I one to hop on new technology every 2 seconds it drops.

Rather, I find myself ready to join the world of the cell-phone willing and this flashy piece of budget-tech may suit the bill.  After years of fighting the need for a cellphone, I think I am finally ready to step up to the plate and have a cellphone number I actually give out to people.  I may even pick up when it rings.  Wait, I may even keep the ringer on.

To state it more clearly, I want my brand to succeed and communication just may be part of unlocking that key.  So, it may be time to upgrade my phone from the 2002 model I’ve been rocking since 2005.  Why the iPhone, after I vehemently laughed at friends who rushed out and bought the first one, only to see the price drop a month after?  A) Family plan pricing B) Not like I’m going to be paying for it anyway.

Of course, perhaps I should wait since we all know this is coming:

Read here so you can be up on 3g Technology, also known as “why apple is kinda late.”

the birds are watching

June 13th, 2008 · No Comments

and apparently attacking too…

the birds

I don’t even too much know how to report this one.

On some Hitchcock ish…

My dad has reported to me that for the 4th time in the last month and a half, a bird has flown into him while he was on one of his daily walks.

Scenario:  My dad’s walking down the street, to the same corner where this happened last time.  He gets there, sure enough, this bird swipes his arm.  We’re not talking an eagle, just a black bird, but still, the hutspah!  What makes it worse, someone walks by moments later, and the bird chills out.

When I was 14, my father and I took a trip to NYC, just him and me while my mother, sister, and dog stayed home.  It was a great trip, and one of my fondest memories of NYC ever.  While I climbing the ever-so-dangerous Statue of Liberty, a pigeon sent a father-seaking doo-doo bomb right on my Dad’s head.

Years later, he once took a class on a field trip to Metrozoo, and the same thing happened, in front of his students!!!

What’s the beef between my father and birds?  Yo no se.

He’s more of a fish guy than chicken, so I doubt that’s it.  Whatever it is, these birds are blatantly disrespecting my father.  He needs to get a healing or get a cat, quick!!

where am I?

June 9th, 2008 · No Comments

question-mark.jpg

Fret not, I am not one of those bloggers who got on, got hot, and fizzled out. Wait…I got hot?

Anyway, I was taking a much deserved one week blog break, however upon my return my week got super heavy. A lot of changes/improvements have been made to my brand and  with ever improving brand direction, a 4.0 to maintain, dope music to create, and an all around amazing lifestyle, the blog is usually the first to be laid to the side. I am even more excited about launching the brand, which has been delayed enough.

Good things to come.

Say hi to my first post in the month of June!

ME vs. BAPE (and Snoopy, too)

May 24th, 2008 · No Comments

On my last and only free day in Tokyo, I decided to do it up BIG.

I hit the Supreme, Stussy, XLarge, and Undefeated stores, spending $0, but enjoying the sights.

dscn7460.JPG

I then embarked upon the rest of Harajuku, which MUST be the fashion mecca of Tokyo. Store upon store, this is where Sex & the City Tokyo would take place.

dscn7465.JPG

Venturing into the fashion world myself, as well as trying to avoid all Soulja Boyisms, one brand name I hear over and over again is A Bathing Ape (BAPE). Knowing that Japan is the birthplace of this pricey spectacle, I decided to hit one of their flagship stores. When I first arrived at BAPE in Harajuku, there was a line around the block to get into the store!!! Of course, they were only letting in 1.5 people at a time, but people were waiting anyway.

dscn7468.JPG

However, while I was across the street, when I pulled out my camera to take a picture of the line and the store-front, a BAPE employee appeared out of nowhere telling me that I cannot take pictures. SMH…….somebody told him WRONG!

Though I had already decided not to enter the store, upon this warning, when Maki and Tokirin suggested we return, I was GAME. We ventured back later on in the day. I took pictures outside, inside, I even shot video.

dscn7467.JPG

Why aren’t I posting those pictures? BAPE patrol. The Blawk Hawk-like chopper flew in, and to keep a long story short, I’ve said too much due to pending litigation. I kid. Maybe.

And then, it was on to the mission of the day: OPERATION SNOOPY.

Instore @ Tribe/Guinness Records

May 23rd, 2008 · No Comments

After the long drive back to Tokyo, I went on a walk to stretch my legs and see more of Shibuya. I walked into a record store with this guy scratching and cutting all the current pop jams you didn’t even know they made on vinyl. There was love in this club store.

dscn7432.JPG

dscn7436.JPG

FK from Tribe Records managed to conjure up an alto saxophone for me to rock during the in-store performance. I was a tad nervous because I really only play tenor, so I went to the top floor landing and tried to figure out what key some of my tunes are in.

dscn7439.JPG

I was fairly hidden from the street, but this one lady in a building not too far away was thoroughly confused or annoyed as to who was torturing a cat in one of the buildings next to her.

dscn7441.JPG

Mihara also performed at the first show I did in Tokyo. How fitting then that he should also be at the last. His tunes have deep and jazzy textures with raw sounding breaks underneath. I did a remix for his forthcoming 7″ record (and my remix features my mom).

dscn7442.JPG

The toys are waiting.

dscn7445.JPG

As is the crowd.

dscn7448.JPG

dscn7446.JPG

And now they are deeply lost in a deviant-induced trance. Or they are all falling asleep, except for smiley in the front. For my version of the story, we’ll go with the trance.

dscn7444.JPG

Yet again, a picture that I could caption so many ways, but ultimately it speaks for itself.

dscn7450.JPG

No, I didn’t jump to South Beach for this picture. This guy rides in a donk on 20s, maybe even (dare I say) 24s…..in Tokyo.

dscn7456.JPG

And that’s the end of the night as far as you’re concerned. Afterwards: dinner, and Tokirin took me to meet Shoga, who revealed some great mysteries to me. I have been sworn to secrecy, unless you really want to know, just ask.
